This game will brake all the standards in game industry and i am very happy that i trusted you and i choosed to buy the Collectors Edition and after two weekends i can say ... only these two weekend worth the 150 euros that i spend to buy it.
WoW showing drop while Swtor is on the rise

Before certain months we read in internet that the most popular video game in the planet this moment wow that it loses 600 thousands subscribers each quarter (source: Google Search). The wow is certain that apart from the most popular game, is perhaps the most completed right now and certainly the number of million subscribers justified by the factor of the [complete game].The players can spend a pleasant time at any moment they decide to enter the game.
But the WoW is already in its seventh year and this "marriage" between the players and the game has become just a habit. Everything in life after some time it can not offer new experiences ,and WoW that it had to give, already gave it. You can see in the chart this drop of interest about Wow !
As long as it wore out wow, new games came to the fore ready to displace it. The two most important were Aoc and Aion. Unfortunately neither of the two did not succeed. The reasons in each case was different. Aoc in the reason was the unstable client, while in Aion was the indifference of Ncsoft against bots.

EA's CEO preparing the field for Microtransactions inside Swtor

In this Swtor statement, EA CEO John Riccitiello talks a lot about mmo Microtransactions and he mentions playing a game for 6 hours straight and having to pay 1 dollar just to re-clip your ammo (@24:40 of the presentation), should we be concerned at all?
These opinions sparked a Burst of 87-105 pages commentary in the
official web-site's forums.
The previus Thread was closed by a moderator due of 1000 posts issue and he opened a new one
. The major problem with these statements is EA's CEO didn't clearly explain his thoughts of what Microtransactions he meant or if swtor will have Microtransactions.
There are many type of Micro-transactions ,some of them affect player game ,some of them not.for example, items like special looking rings-earings ,dresses, mounts that do not give any extra stats, XP gain, etc and they are only cosmetics i don't think there is any gamer in the world that is against them.
Οn the other hand there are the items that change stats, XP gain , fire power , armor defense .these items used a lot in free to play mmo games and they the reason that free to play many times cost more than these mmo with monthly fee.

End of Life for Star Wars Galaxies on December 15, 2011

Sony announced today that will end SWG mmo on 15 December 2011 . I played SWG for years, and what really made the game for me was it was Star Wars, and had a great community to play with. That is what carried me for so long, and when my community left, the game was done for me. Can't believe it will finally be ended, loved that game.
SWG It was ahead of it's time.
* Player driven economy, crafted goods for the most part superior to looted.
* Open world: GIGANTIC worlds, with random spawns and loot
* Open world PVP: Love it or hate it, port into a crowded city only to see a war taking place
* Player housing/cities: AMAZING...nothing comes close. Create/defend your city!
AND BEST OF ALL: Superior player customization, from appearance to skills/templates, it was truly unique.
The reality is often tough, especially when excise a beloved game that was your companion for many years .
Below is the Whole Announce from Sony :
Dear Star Wars Galaxies™ Community Member,
We write to you today to inform you that on December 15, 2011, Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) and LucasArts will end all services (MMO and Trading Card Game) for Star Wars Galaxies (SWG). The shutdown of SWG is a very difficult decision, but SOE and LucasArts have mutually agreed that the end of 2011 is the appropriate time to end the game.

What does it mean that you are now introducing a hybrid business model? In the simplest terms, anyone can play ‘Age of Conan: Unrated’ at no cost. No subscription is required. You can download and play for free.

Is EA preparing a new MMO project?

Apparently EA is starting to recruit for another MMO it wants in the works. Although, it is important to keep in mind that the production time needed would most likely be several years and it wouldn't create an immediate impact on TOR, but it may in the long run if the game's really being designed to keep a long term player base.
Related to this link :
Insinuating it may be a new incarnation of EA's popular UO franchise, the first WEB MMORPG made which holds not only several Guinness records but is known to be one of the most pivotal MMO games to date.
"It will be huge. It will be monumental and the technical challenges from the size, volume, and touch points will be awesome.
The EA MMO that we do know about the BioWare-developed Star Wars: The Old Republic is due for launch in the second half of the year.
Why tell people to go back to WoW?

It's getting to be very old that anytime - It's getting to be very old that anytime someone does not agree 110% with story and the journey to max-level being the most important part of what a player wants is the instant barrage of "go back to WoW cause this game is not for you".
Honestly this game is not for you either then, face it, there are differing opinions about what people want in an MMO. I for one really don't want a ME in a SW skin nor do I want WoW with lightsabers.
My point being that anytime anyone asks a question or shares their thoughts the "WoW Sucks" club comes out in force and makes it very hard to have a reasonable discussion.
If there is anything that will make this game fail it will be the community. Yes the community. It's getting very hard to come here and read all the hateful posts pointed at anyone that questions whether there will be options to avoid hours of voice-acting.
I want to play a game and I am relativly sure there are at least 2 more people in the world that want to play a game as well.
So, if I want to play a Star Wars themed game does that mean I should go play WoW instead and close my eyes and RP as a Jedi? Just because I want to play a game?

Release the game unfinished.

Hello, i am truck_driver_tim - , as you can see, heh! silly me. So silly, obviously you can see my name and avatar on the left, i'll remember that for next time.
I want to talk a bit about the games release, it is just taking far too long. I think they should release right now and let us play the content that they have done so far, and patch it up while we're playing. You'll still get all the box sales you're after, because as others have said, the information so far is just not cutting it for such a long time period, I mean, I know so far the information you've given us is proving to be such a great game, a revolution in MMO experience, never seen before gameplay, and all that, it's not because there's a star wars tag on the game, that's not where your fans are coming from, it's clearly the information and content you've shown us so far, such as space combat!
A New Hope

I have often played any and all Star Wars games - with hopes to submerge myself in the much loved universe of my youth.
Most times I walk away satisfied but still feeling something was missing. KOTOR and Jedi Academy were among my all time favs.
Galaxies just does'nt feel right and for me the game play was lacking. I (like most) play Warcraft wayyyyy too much and would like nothing more than a Star Wars game that gave me that ease of control with all the binding and macro options so my character can have that smooth motion while still pwning.
There has only been a couple of games i've played that was close to that feeling and I really hope TOR comes through for me. That other Star (4 letter word) MMO was not it.
I am really exited about this one though and will give it a go for as long as I can. If it does not live up to my expectations there will be no QQ. After all I still pull out the Xbox from time to time and play my old KOTOR , II and yes even lego. [Swtor.com Community]

The End All Be All of WoW Clone Threads!

The End All Be All of WoW Clone Threads! - TL;DR// Plain and simple: This game will succeed solely on its IP if it meets all the requirements of being called an MMORPG.
If it is a WoW clone and it uses Star Wars IP instead of Warcraft III IP it will succeed.
If it is not a WoW clone and it uses Star Wars IP it will succeed.
Disagreements?
Maybe you agree?
I have been thinking about this WoW clone business since I started watching these boards. It just bothers me that people can say this game will fail if it is a WoW clone. I mean, honestly, when it comes down to it WoW has done something right (I'm not saying that the game is definitively good) in terms of MMO development. The idea that this game--letter for letter--could be copied over from WoW itself and slapped with Star Wars content over it would be just fine.
We are trying to get our hands on an MMO here guys, not the lost Ark...

Hypothetical The mmorpg to end all mmorpg´s

Hypothetical The mmorpg to end all mmorpg´s - What would it look like .
themepark or Sandbox Or mix of the two
Fanatsy or SciFi ?
My vision of a MMORPG to end all others would be a Science-Fantasy MMORPG with magic and science fiction, with open space and big planets to explore. With dev made factions to align with but also the option to stand alone. Ofc there will be guilds and these guilds will be able to war eachother or form alliances, they kan take sides with the dev governed story, and the devs will allow the player guilds and standalone players to influence the path of the main story, so that the game feels like an alive and dynamic World.
The Game world would expand as the player bace expands so like Eve there will be only one "server" spread out over many physical servers.
expansions and uptades would be added to the server seamlessly so that when a New solar system is added no one is told . thus giving a place for space explorers
as to the skills VS Levels discussion i feel like leaving that issue to ppl with more experience .

Combo Attacks @ Swtor

Combo Attacks - Greetings everyone....
In speaking with some friends the other day, about some of the things we hope will be included in TOR, one thing that came to mind, and I'm surprised it took me this long to think of it, is combination attacks. Combo attacks add so much depth/fun to multiplayer combat, and it surprises me that more MMOs don't have combo attacks in them.
If anyone has played Final Fantasy 11, that is a good starting point. Although the game had many flaws, I think the combo attacks were pretty darn cool. Now, I haven't played every MMO, but a friend told me that the Lord of the Rings MMO has that as well. Yet, of all the MMO games I've played, including WoW, most of them don't have this feature.
It could really add a fun challenge to combat as well - such as making the combos harder and harder to execute.
For instance....
Player A initiates a combo - and then has to hit a keyboard combination
Player B then has to hit their keyboard combination correctly, in a certain amount of time, or the combo fails.
Keyboard combinations can get harder, and combos involving more than two players can be discovered as well, down the line.
