Star Wars The Old Republic
RSVP Loop - confirm the issue
Submitted by Dev Robot on Tue, 11/22/2011 - 05:29Hey all, thanks for the new posts with locations. We're just confirming it's a global issue and not region based.
As a reminder please don't re-post if you've already posted - it makes tracking affected users and getting an accurate count more difficult.
Our ops team is working on this now and we hope to have more info for you soon.

Let's leave them for the more needy, please.
[ Update 3 ] Next Beta Testing Weekend - FAQ
Submitted by Dev Robot on Sat, 11/12/2011 - 00:10Updated the original post with a couple of more FAQ answers from this thread.
To answer other queries: for those of you who have been emailed this afternoon, as the email says, you have been selected to test in an upcoming Beta Test Weekend (which this FAQ refers to). You will be invited - and be able to download the client - closer to the upcoming weekend.
In other words, there are two Testing Weekends currently on the calendar. This weekend (11th-13th of November) for which invites have already been sent. You can tell if you have an invite to this weekend by the fact that the email has those dates in it.
Everyone who is signed up to test is eligible for the upcoming Beta Testing Weekend, and notification on when you can download the game client will be sent closer to the weekend's start.
[ Update 2 ] Next Beta Testing Weekend - FAQ
Submitted by Dev Robot on Fri, 11/11/2011 - 22:37
One of my characters is in this weekend beta.
I guess I'm a bit confused on the announcment, so forgive me if it sounds stupid.
So what this means, is if I'm already in this weekend beta, I get into next weekend, and next weekend and so on, till launch?
I understand, I won't need any further codes, as I'll take away the chance for someone else, but I'm just trying to understand the announcment is all. Thanks in advance and again, sorry if it sounds dumb.
You'll be able to play in the next Beta Test Weekend - but we haven't announced that date, yet. Whenever it is, you'll play in it. As it says in the FAQ, we're expecting this future weekend to be the last Beta Testing Weekend.
if i havent yet ever been invited to beta...will i be able to get a code for the first time these weekends?
Yes you will.
Next Beta Testing Weekend - FAQ
Submitted by Dev Robot on Fri, 11/11/2011 - 21:15Does this announcement mean I can play Star Wars: The Old Republic this weekend?
No it does not, unless you have a previous testing invite - either to this weekend or to general Game Testing. The Beta Testing Weekend we are referring to will happen in the next few weeks.
When will the Beta Testing Weekend start?
It will happen in the next few weeks. We'll have an announcement on the exact timing closer to the weekend's start.
Will this be the final Beta Testing Weekend?
Currently, we expect it to be.
Will I be able to download the game client in advance of the weekend?
Yes, we will be sending out invites to download the game client in advance of the weekend.
I have previously tested Star Wars: The Old Republic. Will I get invited to the upcoming Beta Testing Weekend?
Yes, you will. Every person that is signed up and opted in for Game Testing before November 11th will be invited to this Beta Testing Weekend.
What if I do not live in a launch country for Star Wars: The Old Republic?
As long as you are signed up and opted in for testing, you will be invited to test.
What if I have not signed up, or opted in for testing by November 11th?
Beta Test Weekend Announced

Were excited to announce that later this month we will be conducting our largest Beta Testing Weekend yet, specifically designed to help us stress test our servers in preparation for the launch of Star Wars: The Old Republic.
How can you take part in this coming Beta Test Weekend? Well, for starters we are happy to announce that anyone who has signed up for our Game Testing Program prior to today, November 11th, will get invited! Invites will be sent in the coming weeks.

[Update] Beta RSVP link not working?
Submitted by Dev Robot on Wed, 11/09/2011 - 22:06Hello all,
We've investigated this issue further overnight, and I've got an update for you. It looks like a small number of people got stuck in a unhelpful state within our database. That means the problem's on our side, not yours, so don't worry about trying different browsers or similar to fix it yourself.
Our DB team is tracking down the affected accounts and should roll out a fix later today. When that happens, you'll be able to accept the invite. We'll update this thread when the fix is applied. Thanks for your patience while we resolve this!
Beta RSVP link not working?
Submitted by Dev Robot on Wed, 11/09/2011 - 20:07
Just wondering if anyone else got their BetaWeekend invites but are unable to download the client? I've tried refreshing, closing and restarting my computer but always get stuck on the RSVP link to accept my Beta invitation.
Hello everyone,
We're starting the investigation into this right now. A few steps you should try just to be safe:
- Log out of your SWTOR.com account
- Completely clear your browser cache and cookies
- Try to log back in and see if you can accept the invite
You might also try the process with a different browser. If anyone finds this works for them, please do mention that in this thread.
We'll continue to investigate here, but if you are experiencing this issue and cannot resolve it, please email support@swtor.com and report your issue to our Customer Service team so we can judge the size of the issue.
If you are not experiencing this issue, I'd ask you not to post in this thread so we can keep the conversation focused.
We may not be able to resolve this issue tonight but we'll certainly give it a high priority to fix. Thanks for your patience.
Here's reason why Best Buy pre-orders haven't received their code; Clarification, BW?
Submitted by Dev Robot on Wed, 10/26/2011 - 16:39Hey there. Apologies for any issues you may have had with Best Buy over this.
We're going to investigate and report back, but I'll tell you immediately that there are no plans to give '30 days of Early Access' to anyone. The likelihood is that there may be confusion there over the 30 days of game time that are included with the game.
To help us in this, I'd appreciate a PM from you, Nolan_Grey, with more specific information - especially who you spoke to at Best Buy, any emails you've sent to our Customer Service team, etc. Thank you!
Swtor Guild Alignment System has began

Swtor Guild Alignment System is an optional system that allows your guild to mark up to three other guilds as Allies or Adversaries*. When the game launches, these designations will influence which guilds are placed on the same server.
"We will make reasonable efforts to place as many qualifying groups of Allies and Adversaries as possible together on the same server. Given the volume of anticipated guilds (as well as other factors), we unfortunately cannot guarantee that all specified Allies and Adversaries will be placed on your server."
This is the phase 2 of guild system .In Phase 2: Alignment, Bioware is introducing new features which allow guilds to set their allegiance with other guilds in Star Wars The Old Republic. Now a guild leader, along with members who have the proper permissions, can select up to three guilds as either Allies or Adversaries, depending on their faction affiliation. Qualifying guilds that are marked as Allies and Adversaries of other guilds will have the highest chance of being placed in the game together, allowing these guilds to coexist on the same server.
Another feature being implemented with Phase 2 is the ability for guild leaders and members with the proper permissions to invite friends to join their guild via email. You can start recruiting new members today!
Swtor Community Questions & Answers from Lead PvP Designer

Principal Lead PvP Designer Gabe Amatangelo answers a few of your questions about Player-vs-Player Combat in The Old Republic.
Q: How important is the PvP community to BioWare ? – Kryptorchid
A: Very important. The Old Republic’s PvP developers are avid gamers and active, long-time members of the MMO PvP community. We hold preservation and growth of the The Old Republic PvP community near and dear to our hearts.
Q: Will there be any kind of arena system? If so, which brackets will it support? - Inquiescent
A: ‘Arena System’ has come to mean two different things depending on the context: Single Elimination PvP game mode and Ranking/Tournament Systems. Whether or not we add that game mode to The Old Republic’s current lineup (domination, assault and bombing run) is TBD. However, one of the top things on our list for post launch is a rated Warzone system where players can form teams, earn team ratings, earn individual ratings, as well as participate in tournaments, etc.
Q: Are there any plans for non-combat forms of PvP, such as Pazaak or Swoop Racing? - RizzoRatchet
A: We are considering, testing and/or developing several things like that. We’ll let you know as soon as we are sure about what we’re going to add.

EA's CEO preparing the field for Microtransactions inside Swtor

In this Swtor statement, EA CEO John Riccitiello talks a lot about mmo Microtransactions and he mentions playing a game for 6 hours straight and having to pay 1 dollar just to re-clip your ammo (@24:40 of the presentation), should we be concerned at all?
These opinions sparked a Burst of 87-105 pages commentary in the
official web-site's forums.
The previus Thread was closed by a moderator due of 1000 posts issue and he opened a new one
. The major problem with these statements is EA's CEO didn't clearly explain his thoughts of what Microtransactions he meant or if swtor will have Microtransactions.
There are many type of Micro-transactions ,some of them affect player game ,some of them not.for example, items like special looking rings-earings ,dresses, mounts that do not give any extra stats, XP gain, etc and they are only cosmetics i don't think there is any gamer in the world that is against them.
Οn the other hand there are the items that change stats, XP gain , fire power , armor defense .these items used a lot in free to play mmo games and they the reason that free to play many times cost more than these mmo with monthly fee.

5 Reasons that Bioware must use the fan base to open test swtor

So far it seems like they have only been testing in small amounts ( 100 players ) and that will most likely not be the case with the release.
When swtor goes live and servers are awaiting the first players to walk in it ,there is always a risk to be the first day
- crash fest
- Queue fest
- Synchonize problems Fest
- Exploit / dupe / Hack Fest attacks and of cource
- Lag Fest
that the forums in the first days will be hammered with to many problems that will be the community manager's nightmare. A recent mmo game I have been seeing executing open test it fairly correctly was Rift. the headstart gave pre-ordered players the ability to play days before the launch. Failure myths within the normal release has already hammered some mmorpg releases in the past. i don't want right now referrer any of these mmos, but many of us we know what happend in the past. I'm not saying Bioware or better EA should start inviting thousands of players right now, but it would be a good choise the hard test and be better preparation for the worst case scenarios within the last month before launch. An other option is pre-sell and pre-launch a week before normal start, but the time to investigate and solve the problems is limited.
