Guide for new up and coming Swtor Tanks

so you decided to give tanking a try. Maybe you're torn between juggernaut or marauder. Maybe tanking is something you have always wanted to try but were afraid. Maybe you are sick of dpsing in previous games and want to try something fresh when SW:TOR is released. Whatever the reason, I hope you find this guide useful in starting your tanking career. This guide is meant more for new players just getting into the role of tank. Those with a lot of experience tanking, feel free to chime in with advice of your own. FYI please be kind as this is my first attempt ever at a guide.
Let me start by saying, that tanking isn't for everyone. I say that because:
- You may not find it enjoyable
- You need to be thick skinned and be able to take criticism and insults that will come when the group wipes(even if its not your fault)
- It's not pew pew dps
- You have a lot of responsibility.
- You need to have constant awareness of your surroundings / healers mana / the fight mechanics etc etc

SWTOR Bounty Hunter Review HD

Get on the wrong side of the wrong people, and you'll find yourself pursued by a Bounty Hunter, the most dangerous professionals in the galaxy. Bounty Hunters do what it takes to cash in on their marks, utilizing the best in weapons and defensive technology to bring in the target -- dead or alive. The technology your Bounty Hunter uses is up to you; choose to specialize in prototype shield and heavy armor technology to become an unstoppable Powertech, or spend those hard-earned credits on the most destructive arsenal available as a Mercenary.

Sith Inquisitor = Epic Mastermind?

Speculation: Based on a analysis - of currently available information on the "Sith Inquisitor" meatbags, it is possible that Bioware intends this class to be a corrupter, manipulator, mastermind. So that leaves this query, how far will it go?
Statement: Although the story aspect of a manipulator is nice, I would prefer a more strategic and tactical role. Elements from RTS simulations such as resource management, army creation/control, building creation, and so forth.
Conjecture: What if you could manipulate the Exchange syndicate to serve your purposes? Or could even create your own criminal enterprise to fund your more exotic projects? What if you could command an army? Such roles would be fitting for a Sith Inquisitor.
Statement: I am aware that this is a RPG simulation, not a RTS simulation. However, it is not uncommon to see RTS elements within an RPG simulation.
Query: How far do you think or would like Bioware to take the strategic and tactical elements of this simulation? What roles do you think the SI will play in the battlefield of politics, and how do you think it will or should work?
HK-47, out.
P.S. I know it sounds weird for HK-47 to be talking about anything besides killing things, but I couldn't resist the urge.

Should/will all races have the same base attributes

Sorry if this has already been posted -
I was wondering if all the races will have the same base attributes. It's not uncommon for different species in mmo to have different attributes strengths and weaknesses.
For example we know players who choose the Jedi Knight will have the option between human and Mirulaka. I see it plausible that the Mirulaka will have greater intelligence, wisdom and affinity for the force, while the human Jedi Knight will have greater strength and constitution being more geared towards light-saber combat.
Or with the smuggler. We know we have the options between Twi'lek and human. Should the Twi'lek have greater dexterity while the human has greater strength?
Same goes for Jedi Counsulars where we can pick between human and Mirialans, or the sith classes where we an pick between human zabrak and pure bloods.
Will or should their be a trade off between picking one race or another [Swtor.com Community]

Before you complain, have you played KOTOR?

Before you complain, have you played KOTOR? -
Every video or screen shot of this game just reminds me of KOTOR not WoW. And since this is a game based around the KOTOR legacy I would say things are on track.
KOTOR was the first RPG I ever played. I remember at low leveling thinking it was terribly slow and the animations sucked because my character just stood there taking hits and didn't move around like in Jedi Knight.
Well, I stuck with the game and by the time I made it half way through the combat started to speed up and feel more visceral and engaging. It was still not Jedi Knight action packed but it looked good and was satisfying.
That is exactly how I see SW: TOR playing out. The level 3 gameplay looks a like a mixed bag right now; some parts entertaining and some parts looking boring. Thing is, like most MMOS, I expect the combat pace to pick up for all classes at higher levels. JUST. LIKE. KOTOR.

All classes Mirrored...

All classes Mirrored... - Ya I've been hearing more and more of this lately and I really don't know why. The classes have similarities but to say they are mirrored is just flat out wrong. They way I see it, its like calling a paladin and a mage mirrors cause they both use mana.
as an example I'll use trooper and BH. People think cause they are both ranged tank they can be called mirrors. but really they only have heavy armor in common. The way they tank is different. the abilities are VERY different. their "ammo" is even different.
Saying a class is a just a mirror class is saying its a reflection, or copy with a different name or different faction. none of these classes have that, which is something i've never really seen in a MMO. then add in stories and armors and races, and its looking to be a very diverse game.
Last example I'll point out is from Vanilla WoW. Shaman vs Paladin. both restricted to factions (when blizz was smart). But very similar in a lot of ways. but so different that no one could argue they are mirrored by the other at all. [Swtor.com Community]

Cloaks, Capes?

Swtor.gr:Without Capes Jedies and Siths classes are naked
Cloaks, Capes? - I have the feeling I haven't seen flowing capes besides the sith inquisitor's full costume.
I might be wrong but does anyone remember a sith warrior with an armor and a cape?
Cloth is hard to animate. [Swtor.com Community]

Good News. New Playable Species!

New Playable Species! - We’re pleased to announce new playable species options for the Jedi and Sith Classes!
So far we’ve only dropped hints about the range of playable species in Star Wars™: The Old Republic™. You may have heard about the Rattataki Bounty Hunter, Chiss Imperial Agent, or the Twi’lek Smuggler, but we can tell you now that all classes will include optional non-human species.
Among the most exciting character types you’ll be able to choose from is the Sith Pureblood. For the first time ever in a video game, Players can choose to be a member of the original Sith Race, the red-skinned descendants of such notorious Sith Lords as Naga Sadow and Marka Ragnos. The rage of these fallen ancestors of the Sith Pureblood lives on in the Sith Warriors who dominate the battlefield with their intimidating presence and aggressive tactics.

Guardian = Paladin?

Guardian = Paladin? - Just speculating here, but the JK guardian appears to share a lot of the same qualities as our friend the Paladin, wouldn't you all agree? The guardian ac is heavily armored, they're good tanks, do decent dmg, and they inspire their teammates (buff). All you're missing is the ability to heal and you have your TOR's version of a paladin.
That being said I love playing paladins! [Swtor.com Community]
